These three options are at the bottom of every Assignment Creation window, as well as within “show more” of the “Scores by Assignment” page.
“Is Grading Completed”
“Visible To Parents” or "Visible to Portal"
and “Scores Visible to Parents”
Visible to Parents / Visible to Portal = students and parents will see the title of the assignment and how much it is worth, regardless if you have entered any scores. Blank cells do not mathematically count against students.
Scores Visible to Parents = a student will see his/her score on an assignment. Blank cells do not mathematically count against students.
Grading Complete = Alerts students and parents to the fact that you have completed grading, and thus if a score is missing, it means the student did not turn it in. More importantly, a blank cell will now calculate as a 0 and thus impact a student’s overall grade.
**Students and parents do not see individual grades until you click the "grading complete" button for each assignment. BUT the assignment grades will still factor mathematically into students' overall grades…unless you go to "manage gradebook," then "options," and UNclick the "Apply Assignment Scores Immediately" option. Then assignment grades will not factor into overall grades until you click the Grading Complete button.**
