Within your Aeries gradebook dashboard, click "Manage Gradebook," then "Rules."
Click "Add Rule," choose how many low grades you would like to drop from each student's final grade, and from which category you would like the low grades to drop. This means you can drop a low grade from more than one category within the same gradebook.
You have the choice of how to calculate the lowest score: according to "Negative Weight" or according to "% Score."
Dropping the lowest score according to "Negative weight" is max score - actual score. If you had two grades in your gradebook, 5/10 and 20/30, the "negative weight" option would drop the 20/30 score because there is a bigger difference between this later score (a ten point difference between 20 and 30 instead of only five point difference of the 5/10).
Dropping the lowest score according to "% score" is actual score / max score. If you had two grades in your gradebook, 5/10 and 20/30, the "% score" option would drop the 5/10 score because this is the lowest percentage grade (50%, whereas the 20/30 is 67%).
The "scores by student" page will add a "rules" column for each student that then will update and let you know which assignment is being dropped and why.
