If you are unable to print, and you have already rebooted your printer and computer (and there are no error lights or messages) and your printer STILL will not print, you may need to clear the print queue of stuck print jobs.
To do this in Windows 10, you need to (1) stop the Print Spooler service, (2) delete the files in the Printers directory, and (3) restart the Print Spooler service.
Stop the Print Spooler service
- Press the Windows logo button + x (to bring up the Quick Access menu) or right-click on the Windows 10 Start button on the bottom left.
- Click Run.
- Type "services.msc" and press Enter.
- Scroll down if you need to, and right-click Print Spooler.
- Click Stop from the context menu.
Delete the files in the Printers directory
- Start the File Explorer from the Start menu or taskbar.
- Click on the address bar in the File Explorer window and type "C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Printers" and press Enter. (You may get a message about needing permission to access the folder. If so, click the Continue button.)
- Select all the files listed (by pressing Ctrl + a) then press the Del key to delete them.
- Close the File Explorer window.
Restart the Restart the Print Spooler service
- Press the Windows logo button + x (to bring up the Quick Access menu) or right-click on the Windows 10 Start button on the bottom left.
- Click Run.
- Type "services.msc" and press Enter.
- Scroll down if you need to, and right-click Print Spooler.
- This time, click Start from the context menu.
- Close the Services window.
The next time you print, it should work correctly.
